Celebration Calm

As promised, here are some brand new pictures of the “party” room! I have to tell you, that some of my “before” pictures were too horrifying for my husband to allow the public to see!
BEFORE…
My Crazy metro shelf. Love the Easter eggs?
Notice the classy curtain on a bungie cord.
AFTER….
Look the floor! Its such a difficult room, its small and has a piano in it. However, I took the two metro shelves and made an L shape with them and it seemed “flow” better.
On the metro shelves, I organized items by need. This is one of my “dining” shelves. I found that placing things in a pretty way seems to make the room more appealing.
This my favorite part of the room. On one side of the metro shelf, I hung a cork board. Then I purchased a variety of tool organization items to hang my craft stuff. I have a feeling, the board will soon be covered.
Lastly, I put a large table in the room to use as a workspace. The table is up against the window. Its amazing how with just a little work a room that was once a closet at best is now a creative space.
Thanks for the encouragement, Jenn Imagination Celebrations

WOW
Congratulations!!! You did a great job with your ‘Party Room’. I love tackling projects like that around the house - afterward you feel such a sense of accomplishment when everything is neat & tidy. Your effort really gives me the inspiration I need to start my Spring Cleaning!
As always, I’m thinking about the next 10, 20, 30 steps with goals & resolutions: Have you set up a system to keep your room tidy day after day (and that includes ‘rewards’!) . . .
The other question I’ll have a few months down the road is ‘did your organization project make you more productive?’ I sound like such a ‘nag’, but I bet the answer is ‘yes’……
Take care & keep me posted …
Kim
You are no nag!
I did absolutely feel such a feeling of accomplishment. Its funny, the door to that room usually was ALWAYS shut. For the first few days of it being clean (sometimes now, too) both my husband and I just walk in there. Its nice. I do think the room will make me more productive. I already am noticing myself getting prepared for parties much earlier than I would have prior to the room clean up.
As for keeping it clean, I have made it a priority to clean up after myself! It only takes a few minutes. I am intrigued by these “rewards” you speak of.
Thanks for the support and good luck on spring cleaning!
Jenn
Hi Jenn -
I’ve found that when I make real progress with goals, it helps do give yourself a ‘reward’ - i.e. do something nice for yourself. One of my favorite books is Julia Cameron’s, The Artists Way. She urges folks to make time to do ‘Artists’ Dates’ - go out and do something fun, related or unrelated to your craft. It’s a great book; you might enjoy the creative ideas that Cameron raises based on what you do for your party planning business.
I find these Artists’ Dates to be inspirational and fun. Same goes for my notion of ‘rewards’ - do something nice for yourself, go out and have some fun because you’ve worked hard. And when you know there’s a reward at the end of all the hard work, you’ll want to keep ‘doing’ the hard work
Will keep you posted on the Spring Cleaning - first I need to finish mulching the leaves that are still falling from my trees!
Hi Kim-
I will definitely have to check that book out. I love the idea of doing something creative as a reward. Its so important to have that time. I feel like so often in my business I get caught up in the non-creative elements and it feels so good to get back to what the company is all about.
Good luck with the leaves! Now that the snow is melting I am noticing the need for a rake as well!
